Traffic Cruise Control
People have been working on systems to allow cars to drive themselves for quite some time. It's a hard problem. Why not start out with something much simpler, but also quite useful? I propose Traffic Cruise Control. This function would only control the speed of the car in traffic, with traffic moving at some slow speed (say 20 mph max). Turn it on, and it would maintain the speed of 20 mph until it detected (using a proximity detector) that the car in front of it was slowing down, in which case it too would slow down. When the car in front increased in speed, so would it. But only up to 20 mph.
