As we mentioned in the last edition of the ONElist_moderators newsletter, we will continue to spotlight moderator features every two weeks, providing clear descriptions of where you will find them and how you use them to moderate your community. HOW TO VIEW/EDIT YOUR COMMUNITY SETTINGS, PART II - WELCOME SETTINGS

In the last edition of the ONElist_Moderator Update, we guided you through the first part of the Community Settings - Description Settings. This week, we will continue by covering the Welcome Settings.
To access and edit the Welcome Settings for your community:
1. Go to any community you moderate (designated by an "M" symbol
on the My ONElist page at: http://www.onelist.com/myonelist
2. Click on the Settings link in the left-hand bar
3. Click on the Welcome link.
There are two main parts to the Welcome Settings area of a community:
o Welcome message
o Auto-delivered files
The Welcome Message:
This is the part of our community where you can create a greeting to be emailed to new members upon joining your community. This personalized greeting is a great way to:
o let members know they have successfully joined the community
o provide basic rules and guidelines for the community
o Set the tone for participation (discussion lists) or explain that
the list is one-directional (announcement lists).
o send introductory content to introduce members to your community.
For less active communities, this also avoids long waiting periods for
new members to receive content.
o provide basic help: tell members how to unsubscribe, change
message delivery options, etc.
To Add/Edit the Welcome Message:
1. Go to the Welcome Settings area of a community you moderate, as
instructed above.
2. Click on the Edit Button. Add/edit the text you'd like.
3. Click on the Save button
Auto-delivered files:
Every moderator has the ability to mail files automatically to members of his/her community regularly or upon certain conditions. This area displays which files are set to be mailed out and when.
You can set any file to go out:
o Regularly: every 2 weeks or every month
o Upon certain conditions: upon subscription, unsubscription,
pending membership, rejected membership, banning
Auto-delivered files can be anything you'd like: a text document, a spreadsheet, a photo, an audio file.
To Add Auto-delivered Files:
1. Locate the file(s) you'd like to upload.
2. Go to the Files area of any community you moderate.
(You will see a link on the left-hand bar or your community.)
3. Click on Upload File.
4. Type in the path name which leads to the file(s) or click
on the Browse button to find the file you'd like to upload to your computer
(the latter is easier).
5. When you find it, click on that file and then the "Open" button.
6. Specify when or under what conditions you'd like the file
delivered to your members with the checkboxes.
7. Click on the Upload button.
To edit Auto-delivered Files:
1. Locate the file(s) you'd like to change on your computer.
2. Make the changes and save the documents.
3. Upload the edited file(s) to replace the old file(s) as outlined
above.
