THE ONELIST_MODERATORS UPDATE - NOVEMBER 30, 1999
======================================================================

Dear ONElist Community Moderator,

After a brief hiatus to discuss the ONElist-eGroups merger, we're back with our regular moderator newsletter. This week we will continue with the final part of our four-part exploration of the Settings area of a community.

HOW TO VIEW/EDIT YOUR COMMUNITY SETTINGS, PART IV - TOOLS
======================================================================

The fourth part of the Community Settings area is Tools, which allows you to control who has access to Message Archives, Member Directory, Files and Calendar.

To access and edit the Tools Settings for your community:

1.  Go to any community you moderate (designated by an "M" symbol on the My ONElist page at: http://www.onelist.com/myonelist)
2.  Click on the Settings link in the left-hand bar
3.  Click on the Tools link.
4.  Click on the Edit button.
5.  Make changes in any of the following areas (see below)
6.  Click on the Save Changes button.

The Tools section is broken into the following areas:

o Message Archives:  Message Archives is the section of a community where past messages are stored.  Choose here whether you'd like to make these messages available to all ONElist users, only those who belong to your community, or to not maintain Message Archives for your community at all.

o Member Directory:  The Member Directory is a feature which allows members who want to share their Member Profiles with each other to do so.  This allows them to learn more about each other. Here you can choose to allow them to do so or not. Note: even if you choose to show the Member Directory, other members will only see the Member Profiles of those people who have chosen to make them visible.

o Files:  Here you can choose to make the Files area open to all members of your community, or to just the moderators of the community.

o Calendar:  Choose whether you'd like the community Calendar to be open to all members of your community, only to moderators of the community, or finally, to not maintain a calendar at all.
