ONELIST'S NEW ADVANCED FEATURES DELIVER THE RICHEST GROUP COMMUNICATIONS
SERVICES ON THE INTERNET
Group Calendars, User Surveys and File Sharing Create Richer Online
Communities for Average Users
April 19, 1999, San Mateo, Calif. - ONElist, Inc. (http://www.onelist.com),
the leading provider of free e-mail list and group communication technologies
for average users of the Internet, today announced the addition of three
significant new features for its 3+ million members. With the addition
of Group Calendars, User Surveys and File Sharing to its top-ranked, free
e-mail list services, ONElist now offers the richest set of group communication
and collaboration capabilities on the Internet.
"The rapid introduction of innovative new product features has been
the hallmark of ONElist since the day we pioneered our service," said Mark
Fletcher, founder and CEO of ONElist. "By offering new avenues for our
members to share more complex and meaningful information with each other,
ONElist facilitates richer online communities. Our highly scalable architecture
will provide the users of these new features with the same reliable, fast
and secure performance they have enjoyed with our e-mail list capabilities."
New ONElist features announced today include:
-
ONElist Calendar is a members-only feature that allows users to easily
post meetings and events that are of interest to each ONElist community.
The ONElist calendar also allows owners to send email notification to members
reminding them of upcoming community events. For example, a health discussion
community can utilize the ONElist Calendar to alert members to upcoming
medical conferences, important publication dates, and future discussion
forums, while a ONElist small business user can use the ONElist Calendar
to schedule appointments for clients or alert customers about upcoming
product specials or sales.
-
ONElist Shared Files is a private, list-specific area where members can
exchange documents, such as photos, recipes, articles, and business documents.
In addition to being able to easily share rich documents among members
in an e-mail community, Shared Files allow ONElist members to build a "library"
of information for their unique community. For instance, groups of people
working together on projects such as class reunions, screenwriting or family
photo albums can post documents to the Shared Files area and collaborate
via ONElist*freed from bulky e-mail file attachments.
ONElist Shared Files also helps list owners store and specify documents
to be distributed to their members upon certain conditions, such as when
users subscribe or unsubscribe to a ONElist community. For example, ONElist
Shared Files helps to manage and automate welcome and goodbye messages
and other common reminders. Files can also be automatically distributed
to a ONElist community on a regular basis, freeing list moderators from
this time consuming task.
-
ONElist User Survey Tool, enables list moderators to quickly and easily
issue questionnaires to their community members. For example, a list owner
can take a poll of community opinion on a current event or gather relevant
demographic information about the community. Using the ONElist User Survey
Tool, surveys are easy to administer and easy for users to respond. Owners
can deliver one question at a time (with either single or multiple choice
answers) and view the results in real-time.
